Good, but why is this labeled a retelling?

So Many Beginnings by Bethany C. Morrow is a bit of a confusing book for me. It's not necessarily the writing or the content that confuses me, but instead it is this super bizarre marketing scheme where they try to sell it as a remix of Louisa May Alcott's Little Woman. Seriously? Why do this? This isn't a retelling. It simply uses the names of the characters and uses them on different characters in a completely different way. I'm seriously confused. This is a good book why not just let it exist as itself. Why in the world are you trying to market it as a retelling?

The book itself is well written with intriguing characters (all of which are nothing like their namesake). The plot is good, the writing, character development, all good. This is a good book and would have been better if there wasn't this forced way of trying to relate it to Little Woman.
