I have to admit that though I was very excited to read a remix of Little Women, it was purely based on the fact that the sisters in this version are Black and this story is written by a Black author.
And then, I made myself read the original. Yes, I had never read it. Seen a couple of different adapations? Yes. Read source material? Not so much.
This is advertised as a remix and that is definitely what this turned out to be. If you are seeking a story that is exact to the original with slight variances, this is not the one. But if you give it a chance, I think you would be pleasantly surprised.
This was however an average read for me. I gave it 3 stars because I was not connected to any of the sisters. It was hard for me to stay invested in the story and I am not sure if that was due to the changes that made this different, or the character development. Either way, it was a decent read.
