I understand some "retellings" and others I don't, and this is one that I don't get. Why not just write a story about sisters in the civil war? It seems like a marketing ploy to take the names and certain mannerisms of the characters from a classic instead of just writing a different story of its own merit. I would be really interested in this if it was a civil war story with names and characters from the authors imagination for sure
