After only reading twenty pages of this book, I just know that's going to hit deeply. The March sisters reimagined as a Black family living in a free colony during the American Civil War? Yes, please!

First, Little Women is one of my favorite classics and, already, this has the perfect Little Women vibe. Jo is perfection and I know she's going to, once again, be my favorite character. I love how Morrow keeps the feel of the classic but gives it her own twist. And I love that this will be talking about some pretty heavy topics, from what I can tell, and in a rather empowering way. I've already come across a few quotes I loved!

Also, the cover is just *chef's kiss*

Reading this small excerpt has definitely made me excited to read the rest of the book!
