So Many Beginnings is the Retelling of fan-favorite, Little Women. But, what drew me into this retelling is that the beloved sisters are African American, not white. Racial perspectives and cultural differences from the original Little Women are evident throughout the First Look. For example, we learn that Jo rarely spoke as a child, and certainly not in front of white people. We also learn that Mammy has made it her mission to remind her daughters that in their new colony, they have the right to be heard. I'm eager to read Little Women with this authentically executed, lens.
