Little Women is one of my all-time favorite books, and I love adaptations in general. They're challenging, though, because they're pointless if they hew too closely to the original text but can be frustrating if they stray too far. From these first pages, it looks like SO MANY BEGINNINGS has maintained the spirit of the characters and their familial relationship, which made Little Women so heartwarming. But the context these women are placed in is new, and by making the March sisters Black women, it gives an immediacy to the Civil War that was only a distant specter in the original text. I can't wait to read more.
