It took me a while to get used to the pace of the book. For some reason I kept losing track of the story and getting distracted so I would stop reading and try again another day. Eventually I got to it and I can see the deep meanings and themes that were talked about. My favorite quote was "There were no good and bad masters when there were masters at all". It makes me so sad to think they lived through any sort of slavery, and that they thought they were free but in reality there is still so much racism that will happen. I don't think I will keep reading this story though because I couldn't get myself into the story.
