Based on the blurb alone, I feel like I am kissing a lot of information or that I should already know these characters and their surroundings. If this is a first book or a standalone, it makes me skeptical of the writing. This is also not a genre of book I would normally read so that leaves me slightly biased as to whether or not I would enjoy it.
