So, I know the "getting stuck in the past and trying to make the future better without changing it too badly" trope is common. In fact, it's so common I almost didn't read the first look. HOWEVER, I decided that every book is worth a chance, so I read the First Look.
Adlakha is a very skilled writer, and I was immediately drawn in. She writes with premonitions of what will happen and the reader can't help the intrigue that they feel. Learning about the future before the past sets in gives the reader an attachment to the things the character will lose and Adlakha was brilliant when she chose to write about that.
Reading the first look made me SUPER excited to read this book!
