What absolutely beautiful prose this book has with a fast and engaging pace. There's so much life in the opening chapter with Maria's family that draws you into these characters straight away.

As a single woman without children, I can't personally relate to the responsibilities of parenting or the struggles of getting a husband to help out with child rearing, I found the narrative engaging to read and relatable insofar as all the stories my friends tell me. (Why did her husband think she was taking the day off?)

The twist in chapter two with her patient? Didn't see that coming! I was expecting a women's fiction based on the opening chapter... and now I am hooked!
