I have enjoyed books by Mary Kubica so I knew I would be reading this one as soon as I saw it announced. I will admit I got discouraged in the beginning because it moved so slowly, but once I got a ways in the twists just kept jerking me in one direction and then the next practically faster than I could turn the pages. I saw some of the twists coming, but I didn’t see them all coming and that is always a sign of a great thriller for me. Meghan Michaels is balancing being a single mother and a nurse in the ICU at the hospital. She is battling her anxiety as women are being raped and murdered in their homes and having to leave her teenage daughter sometimes home alone briefly. Meghan has always had good boundaries at work, but when an attempt at suicide brings a comatose Caitlin and her family into her ICU she finds herself slowly being more and more involved especially when the police raise the question that Caitlin may have been pushed. I gave this one 4.5 stars rounded up for the twist that caught me by surprise.
