This book was a lot of fun. It was seemingly mundane, and then we started getting into things and the pieces started coming together, and the twists began. I didn’t realize when I signed up for this one that it was a medically adjacent thriller, which was a surprise for me because I love this usually, as was the case here. I felt that while this was a plot driven story, the characters were well developed, and I felt like I was right there with them on this journey. I really enjoyed not only the main character, but the side characters as well and I felt like they added a lot to the story and kept it moving forward. The pacing was on par with what I like for a thriller if not a little slower, but not horribly slow. The second half of the book was much faster than the first, but that makes sense as things were building in the beginning. Despite a slower start, I did stay engaged and kept wanting to know what was happening and didn’t want to put it down.

I think that this is my favorite book yet by Mary Kubica and can’t wait to see what she comes up with next!
