I have never read a book written by Mary Kubica, I can happily say that she has quickly become a favorite. Meghan is a recently divorced mother living in the city of Chicago with her daughter when an old friend from high school comes back into her life. Or so she believes. When Meghan arrives to work for a shift one afternoon and a beautiful, young woman is brought into the ICU in a coma Meghan’s worlds collide. After the sudden reappearance of her old friend Meghan noticed the tell tale signs of an abused woman, and as a nurse, she wants to do anything in her power to help her, keep her safe much to her own behest. Dredging up the past over friendly drinks, sharing secrets with a friend from the past, all were the wrong things to do. When your problem is laying right there in front of you there is only one way to get out from behind it, and Meghan does.

I never saw all of the twists coming. I have a bad habit of predicting what is going to happen and with this book, it kept me hooked until the very end. The lies, the truth from the untrustworthy. Highly recommend it.
