Megan Michaels is a single mother raising a teenage daughter on her own. She is a RN in the ICU unit at a local hospital and attends weekly divorce support group meetings. It sounds like she has a very boring life, but I'm sure that is far from the truth.
In the beginning of the book we learn that a suicide is in her past history when she sees ICU patient Caitlin Beckett who jumped off the bridge and survived. At the divorce support group meeting she meets Nat Cohen who she went to High School with. She becomes concerned when she sees a bruise on Nat's forehead, but Nat leaves before she can talk to her. Then, one morning while shopping, she receives a call from her daughter Sienna. A man gets on the phone. Sienna has been kidnapped!
Are these three misfortunes connected, or are there three different occurrences vying for her attention?
