I tried reading a title from this author years ago and didn't really like the writing, but seeing it here, I decided to give it another chance. And while the writing didn't exactly knock my socks off, I'm interested in reading more if only to figure out how everything in this sample ties together. It starts with a kidnapped daughter--an immediate hook for any parent, but then the focus shifts to a suicidal ICU patient and the mother of the kidnapped girl in a divorce support group. I want to know what leads the daughter being in danger and what drew the mother to the woman on life support (given that she's not her patient). But please let there be no more of this forty-something woman throwing out things like "on fleek."
