Send Her Back and Other Stories is a collection of short stories written by Munashe Kaseke. These stories offer insight and an intimate look into the immigrant Black woman experience in the United States. With such clear use of language and emotional vulnerability, she drew me into each and every one of the stories. Though each story was unique, they were connected by the protagonist voices, which were all Zimbabwean women drawing upon their individual strengths and resiliency to navigate their new world which offered both challenges and new joys. Their stories were told with both sensitivity and honesty about the very real and tough issues surrounding identity, micro and macroaggressions, and sexism. Despite these and many other challenges, these women overcome. They survive. And they maintain their sense of who they are and where they come from. I would recommend this reading to anyone and everyone.
