For the most part I enjoyed reading this collection of short stories. It was pretty eye opening for what people who come to our country and try to become citizens have to go through. It's not an easy journey to try and come to America and become a citizen. There were stories that made me uncomfortable, but I feel like that was the point. There's stories in here that are happy though. I do think out of the whole collection "An Ostrich Partnership" was my favorite. I liked the couple in the story and felt more of a connection to them- at least what connection I can have being a white American married woman. I am trying to read more books out of my comfort zone, so I'm glad this could help me read and see something I don't have a lot of experience with. I feel like having an author who has gone through the process and a strong connection to the material in her story, makes it more authentic.
