Some stories within this collection I enjoyed much more than others. I felt like the Voice of each protagonist was so similar, that it took me a little bit to immerse into the new story because the women were often so similar. I had hoped these stories would dispel stereotypes and confront some deeper issues regarding how society views and treats immigrants. While a few of them did this, the most of them reinforced negative stereotypes about those native to Zimbabwe and especially the men. Families demanding their US based relatives to work themselves to death in order to spend their money ridiculously while the US immigrant lives in squalor. Or how the men cat call and treat women ghastly. The culture was rarely shown with an emphasis of love or compassion and it left me wondering what the goal of the author's was while sharing these stories?
