This book was incredibly moving to read. As a kid of immigrants the overall message of the book was incredibly meaningful to me and I think the author did a great job of emphasizing how important it is for non-immigrants to understand what the immigrant experience is like and the challenges they face in their everyday life. I enjoyed the writing style the author used and thought that each story was pretty effective in getting the message across. I also liked how each story tied together in subtle ways keeping the whole book and all the short stories tied together as a whole. I enjoyed reading about each character as well as all the secondary characters. I also really liked the cover. While a bit straightforward, I thought it was a good way of giving readers an exact understanding of what to expect from the book and does a good job of portraying the emotions that are expressed within the book.
