As an immigrant myself, this book was like a home I couldn’t return to. Every immigrant that comes to country in seeking a better life leaves a pain behind in the homeland that created them. In the novel Send her back and other stories, Munashe Kaseke wrote every emotion perfectly from the perspective of an immigrant! This beautiful, lyrical novel talks about the struggles that she faced when moving to America to pursue the education she needed in order to help people in the healthcare. Not only does it talk about the struggles, but it also talks about love and the hardship that comes along with it. The racist interactions that we as immigrants face throughout our lives and being told, “well if you don’t like it here then leave.” This is definitely a novel that is recommend everyone to read at some point in their lives as it’s talking about the struggles and the reality of the immigrant’s world.
