Send Her Back looks at what it's like to be an immigrant of color. Munashe Kaseke shows how Americans treat immigrants and how people in Zimbamwewe think of her less now that she was in the United States. The stories discuss how hard it is to become a permanent resident, what it's like to be fetishized by men, and being manipulated by your family back home. Some stories are sad and tragic while others are happier. Tsoro and An Ostrich Partnership are my two favorite stories. Tsoro is about a "diversity hire" that is about to rock the corporation she works for. Ostrich is about a relationship that supplies equal (or maybe a tad too far). Kaseke touches on the issue of race in America as well as many situations that women, in general, have to face. Send Her Back and Other Stories opens eyes while at the same time presenting ubiquitous issues.

I received an ARC from the publisher. All opinions are my own.
