I think this is going to be one of those books that becomes crucial to read in the future. The book is very intriguing as I'm guessing it's a series of short tells that might all be interconnected but the theme of it is immigration and racism. The cover is the most compelling part of this first look as it shows a powerful Black woman who is standing up with her back turned to the lower white people who are gripping American flags. This is a clear jab that the white people's ideals of what America is are not true to the American way and the sole Black (possible immigrant because I think this is the MC of our tale) woman standing in scrubs with her back to them is a better example of the American way. I think this book will have a lot to say about the current political climate and how racist America has been and has become, how many steps back we've taken, and be a story that many readers can feel connected to.
