I wonder if the stories are very straightforward without that extra umph? I do think it is important to represent a negative interracial romantic relationship. I just feel underwhelmed, I guess, by the stories. Sometimes it can feel like we are skimming the surface of the conversation on race/Blackness in fiction. At the end of the day, I just feel the stories lacked a something that hooked me and gave more.
