Avril is attending a theater camp in Whisper Cove, the same place where her mother died twelve years ago. Wrapped up in the play, the theater director, and her son, Avril starts to learn the truth about the place.

I need to preface this review by saying that I really loved Dark and Shallow Lies. It was one of my top reads of 2021. So that said, I really wanted to like this book. Unfortunately, this book didn't even come close to Dark and Shallow Lies. First, let's discuss Avril. I didn't like her. I really didn't. Her personality was just so flat, and so was Cole's. Thus, I ended up not caring about their relationship (a HUGE chunk of the book). More than boring characters, the book itself dragged and dragged and nothing super exciting ever seemed to happen. Scratch that. Nothing much of anything seemed to happen.

Thank you to BookishFirst and the publishers for this ARC, but this book was not for me.
