This is an interesting book- there's mystery, romance, and hints of supernatural- though that never really gets explored beyond an old ghost story, I do wish the author would have utilized that more.
I'm not a reader of YA but the story did interest me and pull me in. It moved slower than I would have preferred, and I could have done without so much romance. The characters were interesting but I would have liked to see some hint of their futures. I think there was a missed opportunity to show Avril and her father and what the resolution means for their relationship. Avril's friends seem to have her back, but none of them ever question any of her actions or apparent medical and mental issues. Same questionable behavior from Cole as well.
Lots of little clues are sprinkled throughout so it wasn't hard to figure what happened. I liked that there ended up being more significance to the sea glass than just a shiny trinket.
Overall an okay book for the genre, I wish certain points were more developed.
