3.5… this book reads like a Shea Ernshaw knockoff that doesn’t quite hit the right notes. The atmosphere was an odd mix of regular dramatic summer camp and eerie nighttime dream sequence. While I enjoyed a bit of the book, the pacing was a bit off. I found the main character to not have any likable characteristics, so I didn’t really care what happened to her. The major antagonist was very creepy and the plot twist at the end was very predictable. One of the biggest issues I have with the book is that a major character was very predatory towards the main character but no other characters seemed to care, including the main character’s love interest. I get that this was a plot point that made the plot twist drive home harder, but I wish it had been addressed. Overall, I wanted this to be better than it really was and felt the last half really dragged out.
