There must be many secrets that are so deep in this YA novel by Ginny Myers Sain, author also of Dark and Shallow Lies. Avril, the narrator and protagonist, has a tragic past which motivates her to enroll in a theater summer camp at Whisper Cove, Connecticut -- the place where her mother drowned 12 years ago. Avril wants to know the reason for her death, but first finds a place menaced by unpredictable fog and whispers from the forest that apparently only she hears. It is creepy from the beginning, setting up several mysteries whose weight carries an extremely suspenseful load. Readers who get to even the second chapter will be compelled to quickly finish this haunting story.
