At first it was going to be a 4 Stars but now it’s a low 3 stars. The beginning was awesome. I loved the fact that he brought in the dog and the cat. Honestly thought they were going to be his sidekicks! But that wasn’t the case. Another problem I had with this, there were too many what ifs clumped together and a lot didn’t add up.(well, from my perspective because it’s too unrealistic) it just made it boring in the middle of the book. I managed to push on reading. The ending was okay. It could’ve been better. At lot of characters felt unconnected to me. But if you like wisecracks, womanizer down on his luck, women, politics, conspiracies, Hawaii, actions, drugs, dealers, then this is the book for you. I LOVE how he decribed some of the islands in the book. I can actually visualize them. The main reason it’s gotten a low 3 was the fact his beloved pets were killed, Pono came across as sort of uncaring despite of the hot mess he was in(I would’ve lost my cool if that happened to me) then the author tried to make up for it at the end. It’s just NOT cool.
