I don't like to be someone who assigns a specific gender to any story, but this novel seems like it would be a dude fantasy novel -- the main character is in a job where his life in constantly in danger, yet he most likely gets the girl in the end too. It seems like I already know what's going to happen in the end, and I don't really like the predictable.
