A chapter too long

This book is quite a lot to get through. Incredibly and deceivingly introspective, the reader spends most of their time in Arezu's head. The blurb from the book back suggests that Ellie is an important character, but we see very little of what makes her so until the very end, and she is inconsequential for much of the story. The author does do a good job of portraying the wet heat of Spain and the horrible circles in which the mins goes while trying to unravel childhood trauma. All said and done, the last chapter quite ruined the story for me. It seemed like the author was trying to reach a word count and nothing more, as the final chapter did nothing to further the story. However, on a whole, this book projects interesting ideas on overcoming trauma and what it truly looks like to be a young, abused foreigner in a world that only wants to take.
