Savage Tongues is about an Iranian-American woman returning to the apartment in Spain where she initially went as a teenager to spend a summer with her estranged dad. When he failed to show up, she went Omar instead, who she came to understand took other young lovers. Their relationship was not your typical happy romance, but one from which she needed to recover. She returns to Spain to process that trauma, as well as the trauma of finding her brother beaten almost to death after a hate crime.
The story is a little convoluted for me and dense, but I think someone with a greater interest in Middle Eastern history might be interested. The jacket doesn't do the depth of the story justice.
