Cover is not engaging, which is unfortunate because I believe this book will be appealing to many readers. I don't think it's bad, but it doesn't really give any indication as to what to expect and suggests (in my view) a book that isn't even close to the genre/themes covered by this book. I get the impression that this book is serious and intelligent. The writing style suggests to me that the author is educated and utilizes a style of prose including highly descriptive language. The summary tells of her dealings with a relationship with an older man and of course dealing with her father, cultural identities, sexuality, etc. We of course don't get that much in the excerpt, but from what I see in the summary, I would believe that this book will be a strong read for those who enjoy narrative and grappling with serious content.
