In the first look for Savage Tongues by Azaareen Van Der Vliet Oloomi, the reader is being set up by the main character for a look back into the past. Arezu is returning to Marbella where, at seventeen, she had a tumultuous affair with an older man during a summer meant to be spent with her estranged father. From this first chapter, the reader is left wanting to know the story of that past summer and what is about to happen for her return.
