The setting and descriptions are so well-detailed that it feels like you're sitting there on a beach, island, baking parking lot or police station right there with the characters. The characters are interesting and relatable, descriptions of motivations and innermost thoughts first on their vacation and then as tragedy unfolds so relatable it could be your own experience.
Allison and Claire are especially interesting characters, I think because they move through the world in such different ways and yet have a similar yearning. I can't wait to read more of this to see what happened to Allison and how it affects the family as they attempt to move on with their lives. What an interesting family dynamic!
