Not what I expected.
“Sometimes, when she thinks of her teeny-tiny life and how obsessed she is with it, she feels physically sick.”
Do not be fooled by the bright cover, this is not a happy feel good book. It is a “haunting portrait of grief, obsession, and the bond between two sisters never truly given the chance to know one another.” This was a slow burn book for me. It’s dark, it’s gritty, it’s very character driven. I will also say that it is excellently written. So much talent in the writing, even if it is quite slow moving. After all is said and done, I give Saint X 3.5 stars.
“Stories lead us to the truth and they lead us astray, and how are we to know the difference?”
Possible triggers: rape, murder
