First of all, this book is NOT a thriller. It’s a character and plot driven mystery that will remind you of the Natalie Holloway case, except this time they have a body. But they also have suspects and not enough evidence to charge them.
We follow Emily 20ish years after her sister disappeared on a family vacation. Her body is found but nobody is ever charged due to lack of evidence. Emily randomly runs into one of the men suspected in her sisters death, follows and eventually befriends him to try to find out what happened to her big sister. In doing so, she gets some answers, but are they really the answers she wants and expects?
She also listens to her sisters audio diary, giving her an insight she didn’t have before.
I really liked this book. It’s a slow burn and not what I expected but enjoyable!
