Mixed Feelings
Ooooh, this audiobook was phenomenal. Yay for multiple narrators! This doesn’t happen very often, so it’s a major treat when it does. I was extremely impressed with all of the various storytellers. 👌🏻
Saint X by Alexis Schaitkin is not your typical thriller. It’s very slow paced and focuses more on the backstory of all the characters, rather than solving the mystery itself. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this story. The author crafts an important narrative involving class, race and privilege. It’s unique, extremely character driven, told from multiple perspectives and timelines. These are all things I appreciate in a novel. However, I was disappointed with the ending. I was left with so many unanswered questions and that soured my overall impression of the book. If you are searching for your next book club pick, I highly recommend this novel. There will definitely be plenty to talk about! Grab yourself a copy of this impressive debut when it releases on February 18th, 2020. 3.5/5 stars for Saint X!
