While the cover of the book is beautiful, the book is not at all what I expected. I had read amazing reviews and while it started out like a murder mystery, the story slowed after the beginning of the book. It was a slow build for me. The writing style was good and flowed well. I loved the relationship that came from Claire and Clive when they reconnected. It helped Claire to have closure but unfortunately Clive remained haunted by so many things in his past. It seemed like he couldn’t have anything go his way. This story did show the differences between life in the United States with the wealthy and life on some of the islands and the locals that don’t have much money. I’m glad I read this book and would recommend it.
