This book was pitched for readers of Emma Cline’s The Girls and Lauren Groff’s Fates and Furies. While I unfortunately haven't read them yet, I know the amount of critical acclaim these books have garnered and they're high on my TBR!

Claire is only seven years old when her teenage sister Allison goes missing while the family is on a tropical vacation. Allison's body washes ashore a couple of weeks later amidst speculations of whether it was an accident, suicide or murder.

I do not want to give too much of the plot away but this was definitely one of the most unconventional thrillers I have ever read.

The book had a strong storyline throughout with some really strong and complex characters, and it also explores the complex ties of family and even themes of racism.

Definitely not your run-of-the-mill whodunit!
