This was such an interesting mystery that was impossible to put down. While I found the girls to be annoying at times, it didn't prevent me from enjoying this great debut novel. The writing was compelling and it covers relevant current issues that will keep you thinking long after you've finished (race, sexuality, and class privilege).

While there isn't a particular character that I connected with, I found myself feeling sympathetic towards a few. As this book explores race and class differences you'll find yourself wrapped up in the long, elegantly written sentences. You're heart will break for some, especially Clive, and others with make your skin crawl. I couldn't stop reading as I tried to figure out what actually happened to Allison.
