This book was an interesting one. I don’t think I agree that it’s a thriller, but definitely mystery fiction. It starts off sort of slow, introducing you to the story we’re working with. The murder. The thing that gets the whole plot churning. The author did an excellent job of setting the scene, her descriptive narrative throughout the book was on point! However, I sort of felt like the book dragged on a little and felt unnecessarily long to me. The author goes back and forth between different people’s perspectives and I actually really liked that, I think it kept things interesting and revealed more. This “journey” that the main character is on, to find out what happened to her older sister and who killed her, is one that starts to become much less “Nancy Drew” so to speak, and much more introspective and obsessive in a destructive way. It definitely got weird at times. Towards the last 100 pages, it definitely starts to pick back up and has a pretty weird ending. Not what I expected at all. Not bad, it just wasn’t your typical mystery/thriller reveal ending, which I thought was pretty well executed. All in all, I’d say I did enjoy this book, so I’d give it ⭐️⭐️⭐️, 3 stars! This book will be out in Feb. 2020 so keep an eye out! .
