What a unique and interesting opening to a book. Saint X starts out with a third person description of a beautiful, lovely island and the privileged people that are vacationing there . The description is so clear and detailed that I can imagine myself there. It sounds idyllic but quickly takes a darker turn as Alison, a teenage girl vacationing with her family, goes missing. We know that she was sneaking away and holding onto some secrets of her own, but I’m left wondering what happened, who she was with, where she was going, and why she was sneaking around. The first look of this book left me reeling with so many questions, and the synopsis promised a story that goes much deeper than I could have imagined from the opening chapter. I cannot wait to get my hands on this book to find out what happened to Alison and how it impacted her family and those involved in her disappearance.
