At first I found the narration jarring and a bit annoying. Then I began to tolerate it a bit better. But several paragraphs in I found it quite fascinating. I haven't read anything like it which is somewhat intriguing.
Thick in description, I pictured the island scene clearly. The plot is certainly suspenseful, but I'm not drawn in by the title, and the cover art is meh. But the storyline and storytelling has captured my interest.
