Paradise Lost
An island vacation goes awry for one family when their daughter goes missing and is later found dead. I don't usually like to read stories about violence toward women and children, but Saint X pulled me in. Like Alison's father, I am disappointed to find that the island isn't as perfect as it is made to appear. As we get to kjow the family, I come to care about Claire and fear for Alison while wondering where she is surreptitiously running off. The casual mention of what must be Alison's body is an unexpected jolt. I want to read more to find out what happens and what Claire is like as an adult.
