The beginning of the book made me feel like I was In the midst of a travelogue. A place was being described, but I was not a part of anything that was happening and I had no emotional involvement in it. As the story began with only a few characters such as Allison and Claire and Edwin and Gogo being named this feeling continued. It would be interesting to see how the author handled the characters in the rest of the book. I just had a hard time caring about the characters. This bothered me as I like to connect with some of the characters. The author used an unusual style.
