Just a few short pages in, I am already hooked! I was first struck by the bold cover (and, of course, the blurb from Joyce Carol Oates). I loved the beautiful, slow description of the setting as well as the narrator's voice as we are introduced to the islands. I also appreciate the deftness of the author's use of the third person—this is definitely a book I want to dig into!
