The author’s description of the various vacationers preceding the central drama and tragedy of the story is very compelling and really a photograph of the microcosm that we exist in every day blissfully not knowing what will come tomorrow for ourself much less for the stranger we are passing. In the story the waiters on the beach seem to be friendly helpers. The husband in the silly dolphin swim trunks is unwilling yet to recognize his resentments toward his wife. The father does his best to ignore imperfections he sees here and there that mar his family’s expensive vacation. I absolutely loved the sample of this book and, having read several books published by Celadon this year, I expect that I will love the rest of it as well.
