I'm biased because I've already read this book, and I can tell you it's fantastic! This excerpt is deceiving though, as it's written in a kind of cinematic way that is only true of this opening. The rest of the story is told via alternating narrators in the more traditional sense. The writing is exceptional. This is an emotional, wide-reaching story that leaves quite the impression.
