This book was a completely different take on the traditional "urban myth" ghost story. It was fresh, horror-filled, and included diverse characters. These characters were real enough to appeal to pretty much any reader.

The lead character's sister had vanished into the ether a year ago, destroying her life and shattering her relationships with her closest friends. The book not only focuses on Sara's search for Becca, but also on her grief and how her self-isolation affected those around her.

I truly liked that the story addressed issues pertaining to grief, heartbreak, friendship, fear, and other difficult topics. This was so much more than a great ghost story, though the reader got that, as well.
