“her mother had once explained that when people struggle to understand someone different from themselves, they find comfort in labels... she found, once labeled, people didn’t bother trying to know her, and instead relied on the role they deemed the most fitting when making their assessments.”

i liked this one a ton more than i was expecting to! it was a classic frenimies to lovers but also touched on important issues like feeling like you don’t belong (the main character is vietnamese and was adopted at birth into a white family) or that you aren’t good enough (the other main character is trying to learn how to best parent his teenage daughter... along with the girl’s step father and uncle..). overall, really highlighted the issues that arise from labeling people without truly getting to know them. it had humor, sexual tension, steam, and heart to heart conversations. seriously the whole package. i loved it!
